The Philadelphia 76ers have lost 26 straight games, one away from breaking the record for most straight losses. Right now, they are tied with the 2010-11 Cleveland Cavaliers.
This losing streak, however, is going exactly according to plan for the 76ers. With young guys like Michael Carter-Williams and Nerlens Noel, the 76ers have the talent and potential to be a great team in a few years. But this losing streak could end up giving the Sixers the #1 overall pick in arguably the best draft since 2003. Adding Andrew Wiggins, Jabari Parker, or Joel Embiid would be a huge help in their efforts for the future. And remember that after the Cavs’ disastrous 2010-11 season, they picked Kyrie Irving with the first overall pick. Not only will they have their own pick, but they will have the Pelicans’ pick as well. That would be a lottery pick, and it would be around 10 or 11. Chad Ford has them picking Doug McDermott at 11.
With a starting lineup of MCW, James Anderson, Jabari Parker, Doug McDermott, and Nerlens Noel, they may not be in the running next year, but maybe after the 2015 draft, they’ll be a force with which to be reckoned.
